If you are from a technical publisher and would like to send me a review copy of new and upcoming books on computers and technology, please contact me at
idiotprogrammer at fastmailbox.net . Topics which currently interest me
include: linux/unix, security, networking, content management (zope,
postnuke, etc), cyberculture, technology in Asia, digital signal processing, wireless technologies, anything having to do with the open source community, user-centered design, instructional technology,
web programming, technical documentation, ebooks, digital rights management and the cultural commons, IT certifications,
artificial intelligence.
- Check here to find out what I've been reading recently.
- Some might be wondering why the reviews mentioned here are all so positive. It's simple. I only read good books! I usually will thumb through a book at a bookstore
before choosing the book, and usually at a bookstore I'll have a chance to decide whether I'll like it or not. Eventually though, I plan to compile a list of
some ugly, awful technical books I've encountered over time. I've actually written reviews of quite a number of books (some quite negative) on
- For book reviews of technical books, I enjoy Dr. Dobb's book review site , Danny Yee's Book Reviews
(which are both technical and nontechnical), Rob Slade's excellent review

- I also keep up with various technical writing lists, including computerbookauthors,
and xml-doc.
- My Amazon
Wish List contains hundreds of titles in many fields (but mainly
computing). I also prepared two book recommendation lists for Amazon,

Well, not exactly usability, but I wanted to leave this category until
I convert some old book reviews to it. To put something here, I'm including
an old essay from a literary essay I wrote a while back. It comes from
my Book Notes project. Over time I will be putting these essays on the
web.
