Mihai Bazon has a cool DHTML/JS Calendar for selecting dates on an online form. Open Source. He writes an interesting piece about why he charges for software.
Upon discussion, my friend (one of the founders of Interakt.ro) told me that the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) that is used to distribute the calendar allows him to include it in a commercial software library. And it does. My only problem here is that I answer lots of support emails from people. I write documentation. I fix bugs. I implement feature requests. Yet, no one seems to be willing to donate even a small amount, $10, $5, $1, whatever. I made no money from the calendar itself, but my friend does though he did nothing to contribute to the project (he promised some beers, but that won’t help). Doesn’t this suck?
