The State of Neutrons

I just heard Charlie Rose ask Larry Summers: In aggregate, how is the global economy doing?

What a nice specific question sure to elicit useful insights. Here’s another:

“In aggregate, how is the neutron doing?

In aggregate is really the only way to know about neutrons. If you ask about any specific neutron, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle says that we can never truly know.

Bit of a shame you didn’t ask about electrons, because this fellow named James Clerk Maxwell gave us a great set of equations to describe them.
