In aggregate is really the only way to know about neutrons. If you ask about any specific neutron, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle says that we can never truly know.
Bit of a shame you didn’t ask about electrons, because this fellow named James Clerk Maxwell gave us a great set of equations to describe them.
