Missing the main story

Once again, I apologize for my hiatus from blogging. I have a lot of things to blog about and haven’t had a moment to sit down to do it in weeks (if not months).  I expect to catch up a little later this week.

Just read over the Spitzer prostitution scandal story on New York Times article  and came over an astonishing detail barely remarked upon by the reporter:

If Mr. Spitzer were to resign, Lt. Gov. David A. Paterson would serve out the remainder of his term. Mr. Paterson, who is legally blind, would become the first black governor of New York.

First black governor? What about the first blind governor? That will be a fun story.

NY has already had its share of legally blind governors. Oh wait … I’m thinking of those that were blind to the law, not “legally” blind. :)

Good catch, Robert – and here we go! Story in the NYT. (This article focuses on his leadership, with no mention of race or ability, since it’s not a personal profile.)
