Here is a list of blog sections and special projects on the idiotprogrammer weblog for Texas litblogger and author Robert Nagle. This contains the same links from the dropdown navigation menu along the top. Go here for a complete chronological archive (from 2001!). Although the section links below will go to archives, it only shows 6 posts at a time (causing you to click to older posts). It may be easier just to view a chronological list of just my columns.
Sections
- Current Events. Every 2 months. This comprises what most people think of as blogging. It contains politics, Texas, pop culture, personal observations, and videos, but NOT literary stuff (that’s for Robert’s Roundup), NOT music stuff, NOT geek stuff and NOT political rants (those go in separate columns). I post often about climate change, and that stuff goes here.
- Robert’s Roundup. Every 2 months. I have prepare columns about ebooks I have acquired over the years. (I have 60 columns so far!) Some of the columns are light or superficial, but recently I have tried to post more about these authors and ebooks.
- Music Discoveries. Every 2-3 months. Back in about 2013 I kept a record of all my music acquisitions from Emusic. (see this gigantic post here). Eventually I made it into a recurring columns with articles & YT links plus rants about Eurovision. Typically it includes my acquisitions from bandcamp & archive.org. I have started to compile all my album reviews into a single reader-friendly chart.
- Geek Stuff. (Every 2-3 months). I collect my geekiest blogposts in a separate category. Mostly epubs, css, WordPress, AI.
- Political Pulse (Every 3 months). Although I follow political events very closely, I generally avoid writing long posts about a single topic unless something really irritates me. BTW, I usually maintain and update a Climate Change Cheatsheet with my favorite sources of information.
- Annual Reads & Watches. Annually. I have been detailing my reading and watching list for every year since 2004!
- Favorite Essays. I compiled my most notable essays and blogposts onto a single web page.
Special
- 1965 Project. (Started in 2025). I’ve been researching and writing about important and interesting cultural things about the year 1965.
- Favorite Sitcom (Started in 2020). I maintain a long list of sitcoms from 1950s to the present.
- Here’s a woefully incomplete list of book reviews I have already posted on my blog. For authors wishing to throw ebooks at me, you should see my policy on Writing Book Reviews.
- Incredible Musicians you can download for free. In the 2000s and early 2010s, I wrote feature stories and interviews about creative commons musicians. I still write about music and musicians.
- My interviews. Here is a list of writers, critics and musicians I have interviewed over the last two decades.
- Funny Stories/Booby Naked Stories. I have been telling and performing comic personal stories under the name “Booby Naked Stories.” I actually have fallen out of love with “Booby Naked” as a title for obvious reasons, but am too lazy to fix it on the blog.
- Mike’s Likes. Michael Barrett is a friend and very impressive book & movie critic. For a while I reposted some of his posts from elsewhere. Here’s a long interview that Barrett did with me in 2014.
- Robert’s Rants & Reviews. I used to separate my posts about literary stuff into a separate category. But eventually my Robert’s Roundup column included these articles.
Other Blogs and Media
I have posted on several other blogs.
I run Personville Press and basically write all the content over there.
Related to that, I have been making 3-5 minute Literary Elevator Pitches on YT to feature/promote some literary titles.
Ghostlypopulations is an author site dedicated to an author I love, Jack Matthews.
Teleread.org and Teleread.com . I used to be a contributor and webmaster for Teleread, an ebook technology news site run by author David Rothman.
Magicalto.me is my latest (2026) website about fave childhood reads, inspired by my long essay about the topic.
