Commercial Use of Weblogging

I don’t normally blog about work-stuff or Houston stuff, but I noticed my company has moved over to wordpress weblogs. It doesn’t seem to render ok in my firefox browser; don’t know what’s up with that.

A local software company BMC is setting up business blogs using (surprise, surprise!) a zope/plone solution. I don’t think plone has that much market share worldwide, but in Houston plone solutions seem to be everywhere. Interestingly, the only thing that tipped me off was the plone icon on the firefox browser (whoops!).

Here’s reports from an Austin conference on business blogging.

Here’s what Matt Mullenwegg said to corporate webmasters: “Blogging is really a trick by all the bloggers in the world to get your websites to stop sucking.”

Speaking of which, Photomatt is moving onto a service called Akismet that helps manage spam on wordpress weblogs. Apparently it’s free for personal/noncommercial use. Sounds like a winner. Also apparently wordpress is getting involved with flock as well.
