A good friend of mine Michael Barrett has gotten off his petard and started writing highbrow film reviews for Popmatters. Popmatters doesn’t deserve his critical pen. Only a mag with the stature of the New Yorker or Salon deserves it. Oddly, I have enough friend (not as close) named John Sinnott who is also an uber-film reviewer for DVD Talk. John has more catholic and pop tastes, but writes reviews with equal degree of thoroughness and distinction. The film blogger of record is of course David Hudson of the Greencine blog …a blog I never seem to get around to reading, but when I do, I find I read several weeks worth of posts at a time.
Oddly, though I talk about movies a lot (and blog about them and even make them), I have watched very few recently.
