Reba Saxon responds to a form letter from Texas Senator John Cornyn about health care.
As much as I appreciate the fact that politicians send these position papers (and keep me aware of what their agenda is), I have always felt that they fall short on facts. I’m guessing that staffers prepare form letters to respond to most political issues raised by constituents and then repackage one of the canned letters and call it a “legislative update.”
Although I think congressman actually pay attention to letters from constituents, I think Senators only listen to 2 things: Money (i.e. campaign contributions) and public opinion polls. Then again, senators are insulated from the need to run for office pretty regularly. We had our chance to unseat Cornyn last term and didn’t do it. I guess we suck here in Texas.
