Incompetent Release of Larry Sanders Show DVD

I preordered the Larry Sanders DVD–will receive in about two weeks. I cannot wait! Here’s a link to a Gary Shandling promo on amazon.com .

Sony really screwed up this release. Instead of releasing Season 2, they put a boxed set collecting a selection of episodes. People on the reviews said it might be because of Gary Schandling’s self-consciousness or low sales on Season 1. The more likely explanation is that Sony didn’t want to pay for clearance fees on the musicians who appear on the fictional show.

Wow, here’s a review by Curt Fields of the DVD–he never even mentions the fact that the boxed set excluded lots of episodes. Is that an oversight or what? Here’s a collection of reviews reprinted on a fan forum, along with commentary.
