I will admit one illiberal thing about the ST universe that has bugged me: The absence of media. Picard is saving the universe week after week, and no one bothers to do even so much as an interview with the guy? In one of the newer movies there are journalists following Kirk as he visits some new ship, but generally the absence of people reporting on this remarkable crew and its remarkable feats is pretty glaring.
